i have rec a letter from a roofing firm informing me that my neighbours are having a new roof and having our shared chimneys rebuilt.my neighbours(whom we do not get on with)asked me to go halves which i refused as in my oponion they just need repointing as they are solid the only prob is the faces have come off a few of the bricks which is just cosmetic.i have had a second opinion off my friend( a bricklayer) and my father(a roofer) who both agree with me however this firm have told my neighbours they need rebuilding.i dont want the chimneys rebuilding as i dont trust them not to damage anything on my roof can i legaly stop them having it done, cheers, paul

you cant stop them repairing their own property.
but you can get them to pay for pay damage they cause to your property.
write them a letter stating your concerns and remind them of their legal obligations re damage etc....
then there is the party wall act,,
see the Party Wall etc. Act 1996.
and esp the section on disputes and appointing a surveyor.Get some gorm.0
