Anyone know if a student who is on a 12 month working placement as part of a Sandwich Course is liable to pay council tax on a rented property or are they still exempt?

looking at http://www.lufbra.net/DisplayPage.asp?pageid=2124 you would seem to be ok:
You will be considered to be a student throughout the duration of your course including any vacations. If you undertake work experience as part of a sandwich course, you will still be treated as a student provided the time spent on work experience does not exceed the time spent on study and tuition during the whole course.0 -
No you don't pay it. My OH is currently doing a placement. You need to get a letter from the uni stating you are a student but being on placement is still considered being a student. Then send it off to the council and you don't have to pay.
My uni you go to the student services part of the website. Click on council ax exemption and pop in your student number and address and they send ti to you.Current Mortgage - £156,633:eek:Expecting baby no. one on 27th Oct 20100
