How do I program my PC to log on to broadband when I switch on?

    You don't - your modem once set up will do it for you. Actually, even when your PC is off your modem is on always connected.

    it won't, some ISP's use a connection panel BT Broadband Basic + Virgin for a start

    A router connection is always there once the router is set up

    From your other posts you seem to have a Wanadoo connection using a USB modem.

    To connect automatically, you need to drag the icon that you click on to connect (looks like an upside down T), into the Startup folder, i.e. drag it over the Start button, this should open the start menu, hover over All Programs, this should expand it. Look for Startup and drop the icon onto that. Or, if you prefer, using Windows Explorer, navigate to the Startup folder and drop it into that.

    I've just done that and although the icon transfered to the start up it didn't work because the pc wasn't ready--i got the connection failed message that you get when you try to log on too soon--thanks anywayTharweb

    It just occured to me that maybe i should uninstall the modem etc and then reinstall and select the auto option when prompted--i'm sure i recall seeing it originally--what do you think?
