I really cannot believe how BAD they are!

I have downgraded my account! It has been confirmed I have it in writing.

Yet they STILL want to charge me a fiver for underfunding the account in June, we are NOT EVEN IN JUNE YET!

    What a bunch of muppets.

If you have another current account with faster payments, try making a payment of the minimum funding amount now, and as soon as the payment reaches your Alliance & Leicester account, move the payment back out again. However you may have a problem with A&L's extra long clearance periods.

As someone who switched from A&L's current account earlier this month because of their dreadful customer service, long clearance periods, bad online banking, etc, I have tried, along with many other posters in this forum, to warn people off A&L, but people are still falling for A&L's introductory cashback (which A&L are apparently finding ways to avoid paying).

I switched to A&L premier in February and I have to say that other than their dire internet banking site I've had no problems. They were very efficient at transferring everything over I had with Smile, and I got my £100 bonus within 3 months so so far - no complaints (apart from the internet banking which is bloody rubbish to navigate round after being with Smile for so long!)
Good wine needs to breathe, if it stops breathing try mouth to mouth.

That is the main reason I left, I use online banking a lot and found their system cumbersome. Then when I actually had to deal with them I realised their customer service is appalling!
