The Double Debt Attack by Double Trouble

OK I have made further investigations. It appears that if I want a further advance from my mortgage co I can't have one to tie in with the expiry date of my present tracker rate deal next August (presumably I could if I just took the standard variable rate). So that would mean that I would have to pay a penalty to get out of the further advance if I wanted to move my mortgage elsewhere which I might as I want an offset mortgage so that is not likely to be cost effective or else I take a further advance on the standard rate which would mean a higher interest rate.
So it might be better to stay as I am at the moment and come back to this when I my tracker rate expires and in the meantime pay off as much as I can off the CCs - oh well I think that has convinced me so you can ignore the earlier post for now.

Good for you for investigating it so thoroughly - I wish I'd done that when I was looking at the French adventure........2023: the year I get to buy a car0

Well, it looks like the decision has been made for you.
for what its worth, I am against consolidation of any sort when you are at the beginning of your debt free journey, because it is a "quick fix" and doesn't address the issues behind the spending, or the appreciation of the realities of budgeting etc.
However, when you are well into the journey, and have mastered the budgets, appreciated the need for extras, and earned those extras by way of endless hours clicking, buying bingo tickets and scratching, etc.....then you have formed good habits, recognised pitfalls and worked round them, and you are therefore less likely to make the "old" mistakes again so easily.
So I would have voted for the remortgage...Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. (Maud Van de Venne)Life begins at the end of your comfort zone (Neale Donald Walsch)0 -
have you thought about seeing an independant mortgage advisor to see if he comes up with any ideas?0

I had a quiet weekend
One little one getting better the other one running a temp and sleeping a lot - both have gone to school so fingers crossed that they stay there.
Everyone gone out except me and the baby so pretty quiet here:D
After bailing OD out I am now in overdraft (OD causes OD :rotfl: or should that be ) until payday at the end of the month but I have calculated that I should be able to keep the debt level and clear all the unexpected recent payments when I get paid. After that it will be slowly slowly for the next 3 months and then hopefully barring any other emergencies I will be able to pay a small lump sum off at the end of Jan - next pay day:rolleyes:
Won £7.50 on the bingo yesterday and 35p on the scratchies today everything helps.
Off to order my cellophane as my sister is coming to see me next weekend and I want to send some crimbo pressies back with her - thank you Shaun can't send all of them because I want to wait for M&S pre christmas sale to use my vouchers but hoping to get 7 packed and on their way.
Off to bingo.
