That's great news and thanks for the PM.
  • August Bank Holiday Monday last year was the day that started a chain of events that has enabled us to pay £23k off our debts this year. We had already reduced our CCs from 89K :o:oto 69K :o but that had taken 3 years and was not done with any concerted plan just a realisation that things were getting out of control.

This day last year OH went to Oulton Park to show his car and on the way back he wrote it off. (He was going to go today but thankfully the weather has put him off so he wont be coming home in a police car this year:rolleyes:).

This meant we had a cheque from the insurance co. and I persuaded OH not to buy another car straight away this cheque meant we could clear a CC and this triggered a series of 0% offers which with much juggling enabled us to get all our CC debt on 0% saving a fortune in interest and enabling us to pay more off the capital that coupled with joining MSE has meant a huge difference in our attitude to debt we have been debt free in the past and then just run it all up again on CCs:mad:  but this time there is no easy option to pay off the debts just one hard slog and I know this time it will be forever.

OH bought another car in May I would have prefered him to wait until May 2010 but he just couldn't and of course it was more expensive than the one he wrote off  but despite that we have made good progress.

It just shows that when something bad happens good can come out of it.

Who knows what will happen in the next 12 months? We know we will be taking at least a 15K drop in income which will not help matters but despite that I still plan on reducing the CCs as much as possible although the plan has changed and they won't be gone in the next 12 months as I want to start on the mortgage in Dec and plan to pay off £25K in the first year so that will take the majority of any spare cash so I will have to be even more inventive with regard to paying CCs and the loan back to my Mom. If we get the income back up to last years level of course at some stage then I will have an extra £15k to throw at my debts which will be marvellous but I am not banking on that it may take a few years for our business to recover from this recession.

I am quite proud of us though that despite the pay cut we are still going to reduce our debts I dread to think what would have happened if we had had to take this sort of cut when our CCs were maxed out at 89K:eek:

OK thats the end of today's ramblings back to free bingo to earn some pennies:rotfl:
