What can I grow on a sunny windowsill?

We've just moved into a very sunny flat. I have a floor to ceiling window in the hall and wonder whether I could grow lettuce in pots ( cut and come again) and maybe some herbs.
Is this possible? Any advise would be welcome.

A sunny window would be too hot for lettuces and 'leaves'. They prefer damp shady conditions, particularly if they are in containers.

I would try chilli's and small bush toms like Minibel. They are happy in pots and in the sun.

I have lettuce, salad leaves, plus some parsley, and dill growing, but do watch the sun on them.
