Yes it is, but will be a LOT more expensive to replace parts if they go wrong in the future.......

Unless you know what you're doing please don't go down the Mac route Just trust me on this

256mb isn't really a lot for a pc to be honest... it might be worth contacting local comapnies and asking them if they are getting rid of some old machines... Say it's a university project

Is there anything else the machine must have other than 256mb (which btw just to be difficult could be anything... although i guess you mean RAM ) Like what HDD size, processor size and speed, and so on

T aka the nerd currently thinking that she can SURELY build something greater than an Alienware machine that her best mate has bought... it MUST be possible... oh and if you know what Alienware is without looking it up YAY you're a fellow geek!!!!
