256mb isn't really a lot for a pc to be honest... it might be worth contacting local comapnies and asking them if they are getting rid of some old machines... Say it's a university project
Is there anything else the machine must have other than 256mb (which btw just to be difficult could be anything... although i guess you mean RAM) Like what HDD size, processor size and speed, and so on
