Viewing/Saving/Repairing Corrupted Jpegs

My cousin gave me her sd card that she took to disneyland florida recently, she managed to delete all 250 or so photos.

I have recoverd 189 readable images and have saved them, there are still some that although recovered can not be viewed.

I've tried recovering these images alone using every recovery software I can find.

I've tried repairing them using pixrecovery which doesn't work.

I've tried opening them with PSP 9, microsoft picture viewer, irfanview - all i get is a message telling me it can not be opened or "the datastream contains no image"

anyone got any ideas I haven't already tried?

    If you haven't already try:

    Smart Recovery

    or

    Pc Inspector

You could try The GIMP or hang around at the JPEG newsgroups and see if someone is willing to try and manually decode/fix it for you (ouch!)

It may be that the image file is simply too corrupted to be repaired, and even if the file structure were to be fixed, there's no guarantee that it would contain enough information to correctly render the picture for you to any satisfactory degree :(

    Good luck anyhow :)

In that case, you may be looking at a manual repair job, which could be expensive.

It's like Photoshop but I've found it good at handling cases of corrupted JPEG's quite well. Go to their site (sorry I don't have the link, Google for it) and they should have a Windows port available

    Good luck!
