Just noticed a new online version 14 which is slightly cheaper than v13-works out £20 a year for me with the electric the same but the 2nd tier on Gas 3.309 instead of 3.557. No tie in or exit fee so may as well switch over pending any better deal elsewhere.

Thanks for that info, just did a check on uswitch site and it gives me a saving of 51 pounds. The only reduction is the gas but any savings are welcome...wish these changes were broadcast to their customers when available (mailing list?) instead of finding out via a third party..

I agree - Eon act so secretly when they reduce prices, and never roll them out to all their customers. Quite the reverse when there is an increase. Usually there is a dodge when there is a price reduction, like the discounts are reduced as well. But this, I think, is a genuine reduction as the discounts appear the same. Will ring up today and get switched

I have just switched from V13 to V14 and sent EON an email advising them of my displeasure that they do not do this switch automatically.

I found out about V14 from Martins weekly email received this morning. As always Martin, you are a star:A:A:A:A:A:A:T:T:T:T:T:T

    Hi Guys,

    Just to confirm.

The difference between EnergyOnline Extra Saver version 14 and its predecessor version 13 is the discount is guaranteed for an extra month until 1 September 2010, and the secondary gas unit price has reduced in all areas.

All the other unit rates and the discount amounts are exactly the same as version 13.

Version 14 will be available for an undetermined period of time, and may be replaced by a new version with different prices and discounts which may be cheaper or more expensive in the future.

To ensure you remain on the best tariff for your needs always keep an eye on the website for any new tariffs or updates.

Tariff/product changes are not carried out automatically, as the change may not always be beneficial to the customer (i.e. if the discount amount on the new version of EnergyOnline Extra Saver decreased the overall annual cost could be higher).

It's precisely this that makes it all a bit of a gamble as far as the customer is concerned. Surely it shouldn't be like this

v14 for Electricity only has exactly the same prices as v12 and less discount.
Why do they even bother to launch it??

*still really annoyed at price drop of 0.2% when everybody spoke of 9%*

Easily fixed, send an email out to customers when a tariff changes. Easy change but maybe it would encourage customers to switch to lower tariffs and dent the profits!

    Hi guys,

Can anyone confirm something to me when you switch E.ON tariffs?

The tariffs have details such as:

    Gas
Normal units up to 2680 kWhs per year
    6.52995 pence

    Normal units
    3.30855 pence per kWh

I assume I'm right in thinking that changing tariff does not reset the 'per year' calculations? For example, if I switch tariff, I do not have to use 2680kWh from that point before I am again at the cheaper rate?

    Hi,

Firstly you might not have exceeded the primary thresholds yet as E.ON break the primary units into four quarters, so on each quarterly bill you will have some primary units.

You’re correct though in regards to the amount not being reset, if you change tariff 3 quarters through the year you won’t have to pay for the full year’s worth of primary number of units again. :)

If you changed to a tariff with a different threshold of primary units, your next quarterly bill may show more or less units billed at the primary rate to compensate for the change.
