I was very happy in the job and don't have a clue what to do now.
I'll keep you updated I get the official word on it tomorrow, as in the DTI, OFT and even Ge-cat arn't aware of it. But The Revenue always tend to have the final say :-/
Paul, I really feel for you in the horrible situation thats been created. There can't be anything we could say that makes it any better but I wanted to add my best wishes. I really hope you find something else to do.
Do let us know how you get on

There must surely be employment rights you have that prevent your job just disappearing that day? Is there a union you can talk to? I don't know the ins and outs but I would be amazed if they can just drop you like that. Try the PCS, a public sector union, I'm a member and they've fought bloodily against cuts in central government so they may have some advice. https://www.pcs.org.uk

£43.18 better off per year

But... bearing in mind that I smoke duty-free tobacco 90% of the time, it's probably closer to £50 if you ignore the raise in baccy taxes!Highest Debt (Sept 04) -> £41,300
Debt Free - August 2006!!

I work for an HCI Provider too. It's a Government Initiative. If they decide to scrap it to pay for a war in Iraq, or to help Gordon Brown's PM credentials, then there's nothing we can do about it. This whole thing stinks. I, along with Paul and many hundres of others, may very well be out of a job thanks to Gordon, And it doesn't stop there. Companies like HP, Dell, Fujitsu Siemens, Lenovo etc will all make cutbacks in light of this news.
Thanks for nothing Gordy!0 -

TAKE TAKE TAKE, that's the government for you. And council tax is STILL ridiculous.The word is BOUGHT, not BROUGHT.
It's LOSE, NOT LOOSE.

On guessing what my newly self-employed income will be, I am £40 a year better off. So I'll notice that, then.:cool: DFW Nerd Club member 023...DFD 9.2.2007 :cool::heartpuls married 21 6 08 :A Angel babies' birth dates 3.10.08 * 4.3.11 * 11.11.11 * 17.3.12 * 2.7.12 :heart2: My live baby's birth date 22 7 09 :heart2: I'm due another baby at the end of July 2014! :j

I don't think most people are better of under Labour. You have to look at the bigger picture - no NHs dentists, long hospital waiting lists, crime out of control, etc.
They've made an absolute hash of being in power, as they did the last time they were in Government.
