Hi,
I have got Sky broadband 16mb and have had it for 3 or so years. In the last week or so I have noticed that the wieless connection is failing a few times a day and have tried to pick it up on my Iphone to see if it is my laptop playing up.
Im not the most technical person but am not too bad. I have got the bog standard netgear router from sky but I dont know if these have a short lifespan and shouldI be replacing it?
Items accessing the router are my laptop (wireless), xbox for xbmc (via cat5 cable) and sometimes my Iphone.
All I'm after is some advice as to whether I should ring sky, get a better router or follow any advice that you experts out there would be willing to share.
Thanks in advance
Barrie

Are you sure it's only the wireless connection, or is it actually dropping sync ?? check your router's wireless channel settings, default is normally Auto. Try setting to manual and picking a higher channel, e.g. 10 or 11, and reconnect and monitor how it behaves. Also in the router, check to make sure the wireless is set not to go idle after xx mins of inactivity, i.e. Always On.
See how you go and report back. Routers should last for a good few years before they bite the dust.........Gettin' There, Wherever There is......
I have a dodgy "i" key, so ignore spelling errors due to "i" issues, ...I blame Apple0 -
it could be the router - especially as its started doing this recently - if you can get sky to change it for a new one for nothing then I would go for that option to try rule that out anywayDon't try to teach a pig to sing - it wastes your time and annoys the pig0
