Over the last few days car has been making a noise like wind blowing through a vent, sort of like a hum/vibration, seems to be coming from the rear, only happens occasionally, not at speed but when travelling under 35 mph, any suggestions? Fairly recent mot and service.

Check your tyres for defects, including lumps on the tread - by jacking it up and spinning by hand.
Also make sure the windows and tailgate are shut properly...0 -

Thanks for your suggestions, think I'll have to take it to garage - will post result in case it helps someone else.0

Well, driving along the road a large metal part from under the car fell off! Turned out to be the exhaust heat shield. Car fine now.0

very good news that your micra is self-healing... not unlike a snake shedding its skin..
out of curiosity, was the heat-shield important? asethetic, functional or just for safety?!0 -
I would personally want to know what the heat shield was protecting. The exhaust could be routed close to a component which heat affects or damages. I would suggest the shield was there for a purpose and I would be reluctant to drive too far and at speed until it was replaced.
I doubt it was aesthetic.0 -
That's a very good point.. Particularly for the Micra where nothing is aesthetic.oldagetraveller wrote: »I doubt it was aesthetic.0
