Spell check causing problems

Hi
Twice this week I have lost 2 emails I typed up when using spell check. Clicked on ABC (spell check) and when it reached a word with a wrong spelling the laptop froze for a moment then the email vanished, then laptop worked as normal, very annoying.
I have a Toshiba laptop running vista and use Microsoft email The spell check is one that I downloaded from Filehippo, not had any problems with it in the past year.
Last weekend I received an offer from Norton to update to from Norton 2008 to 2009 which takes me up to my renewal date with Norton, that's the only download in the past week and only change in the laptop.
Any ideas on why this problem is occurring would be much appreciated.
Thanks
Jeff

Firstly Jeff121 you have not mentioned which email client you are using.

Secondly Some people on this site think that norton is crud, bloatware, fairly ineffective, but a great money making machine for Symantec. Also some of us think that free virus checkers like Avira or AVAST may be better - I am one of these.

If you suspect that it is the new norton, you have to disable it and see how it goes, or use a different client, but a different client is no guarantee that the mail will go through.

    Thanks for your advice.
I'm using windows mail, the old pc said outlook, this laptop had the same set up as outlook, is it the same thing under a new name?
The laptop is just under a year old and has worked fine until the new Norton update last week.
Thanks for your comments about Norton, it came free with the laptop and I have previously experienced problems with MacAfee (much of a muchness Norton and McAfee) in my old pc, I'm not a Techie.... just use my pc for paying bills and sending email and of course MSE and received much help over the past few years. I will remove Norton, can only think that's what has caused the problem as the laptop has been fine until now.
    Thanks again.
