What we do is to put any 'left over' money at the end of the month into a separate account so it is out of the way and not a temptation!

Once you know how much you usually have left when you are not being overly frugal, you will have a baseline to work from when you *are* being frugal. It can be quite rewarding to see how the little savings add up at the end of the month. You may even find you can save £hundreds extra in a really good month!
(We managed that recently, a couple of hundred extra simply from being careful with groceries and not going into the town centre where I am always tempted to impulse buy cr4p from poundshops or overpriced coffee & food. We were also lucky that month not to have extra expenses which can crop up unexpectedly like car repairs, vet bills etc.)

Update! I have now reached £40,447 - I am so chuffed to be over £40k!
