lufcgirl - Because giving people a special area means more staff and given the public services are being forced to cut costs that is the opposite of what they want to do.

My opinion is that the public services should be big enough to cope with emergencies. The Governments opinion is that they should get rid of as muany staff as possible as quicky as possible. They have been forced to alter that now - it was always going to happen.

They have high waiting lists unfortunately, that I've heard of. So when I initially did my claim, I was told it would be at least three weeks before any payment would be made.

The one light at the end of the tunnel I had was to ring crisis loans, apply for one stating I have absolutely nothing as they hadn't paid my benefit. They called JSA and had the money paid that afternoon.

Fair enough stanley - you can request and Emergency payment. Emergency payments are either a Crisis Loan, an immediate payment of JSA (In your case) or what is called an Interim payment (A payment made 'on account' of JSA which would have to be paid back if there ended up being no entitlement).

Requesting one of these sometimes means that they end up paying the benefit itself.

And just how and when did you work hard to earn this cash?

If walking to the DWP & signing on the doted line is hard work how would you ever cope in a real job!
