Please help!Haggling on £ under S' Scheme?

Hello - dont know if anyone can help. I'm a complete novice when it comes to cars and have been reading through the excellent scrappage scheme thread for tips. :D

Basically, have decided to trade in my 1998 clio and undecided as yet whether to go with fiat panda or Hyundai i10. Both cars are about same price under scheme, but would like to know is there any further leverage off price at a dealership or is the rock bottom price? How likely that any freebies would be thrown in and if so what?!

Also I'm skint at moment but note that fiat have got a good finance deal of 6.5% APR. I dont know if Hyundai have got any comparable finance offers???? Money dictates I go with Fiat but given choice think I'd have i10.

Finally - have booked in for test drive for both cars but have read that delivery time for cars can be weeks wait. Would I be better just ringing up and booking test drive rather than them waiting to contact me?!

Thanks!

People will be going to be queuing up at the dealers in their brainwashed masses for these cars. Add that to the small profit margin and do you think the dealers are going to give a discount or entertain any haggling?! :)

I failed to get a single penny off any car. Its 2k off list price(unless otherwise stated), and thats it, for every person that tries to haggle there is someone else walking into the showroom willing to pay the car dealers asking price.

TBH I was looking at getting a "nearly new" car anyway as mine will more than fail its mot and is worthless. So stripped all the parts of it thats worth anything and made £300.

So decided to get a mazda 2 ts2 today, pretty impressed with it. Cheapest one on autotrader nearly new was £8979. So i got a new one for 9k and a nice finance rate of 3.9%.

Very true, the dealers are laughing all the way to the bank with this one, the mugs are lining up at the doors to spend money that they don't have.;)

I thought that it was credit that got us all in to this sorry mess..
