exterior paint drying time for door?

I've sanded the front door step and applied 2 undercoats of paint. I thought I was all set to paint tomorrow with Dulux Weathershield but I've checked the tin and it says it takes 16 hours to dry.

My problem is the door step is the bit that goes under the door so my question is do I need to leave the door open for 16 hours? (worried about closing door too early and it getting stuck!)

I seemed to recall having this problem myself many years ago

It depends on the weather to, it may be less if its warm and only applied a liberal coat. I think i did it early morning but by tea time it was dry, but it was south facing door so may have got a lot of sun at the time

Thanks..think I could be getting up early! The door is south facing so will keep fingers crossed it dries quickly.

can you take the door off its hinges, and let it dry in the hallway, so you don't have to close it while it's still wet?

sorry - wasn't clear, I'm not painting the door, it's the bit that is under the door (that isn't any clearer!)
