Websites not responding- is it ntl broadband again

  • Every ISP has problems from time to time - I've been with NTL for years and I'd personally class their service second to none (although if there is a problem their customer service is generally the worst).

If you are experiencing no connectivity with certain sites it can be many things:

    1) Website you are connecting to is down
    2) NTL's DNS Servers are crap and don't have the correct IP for the site (usually clears itself up).
    3) Your router freezes (but this usually means loss of all websites not just one).

You can either wait for the problem to resolve itself or use a web based proxy. You can find these all over the place but please do not disclose any personal information when using web based proxies as they are not 100% secure.

    4) It's a transparent cache issue

Useful notes from an NTL user.
  • I had that problem with NTL last night.

If you ever what to check if it NTL is at question, you can always use an american proxy site to visit the site your are trying to view:

    http://www.the-cloak.com/login.html
    (Basic features are totally free)

This way you'll be checking the website that you can't view from a different route so you can see where the problem is.
