I think this has been an excellentrate and lasted much longer than I expected.
It is still a very good rate.

Still a cracking rate and a great interest maximising tool with the cahoot current account if used correctly. I'll stick with them, but its a shame the stooze profits are going to be hit.

Thanks for the info. Still a great rate, especially when used in tandem with the current account and given the ability to "pull in" funds via direct debit. Having opened a Coventry First account last week (5.1% AER for the first year with bonus - £1000 per month funding requirement) I think I'll be diverting future savings to there for a while.

Another online saver I've kept going with the minimum balance £100 and as a Current Member have been given the current account with minimal questions asked.
The Coventry BS also don't insist on having your salary going into it so the minimum £1K can come fron any source outside of the Coventry.
I opened the Norwich & Peterborough BS Current Account at the start of the year with free £500 overdraft which I am utilising to the full as well as their 8% Gold Savings Account so this will be my source account.

Very interesting. I already have a Coventry BS savings account. Are you saying that if I open one of these new Coventry accounts I won't have to go through all the money laundering proof of identity nonsense?

    Thanks

Correct. I applied on line yesterday. Received their paperwork this morning and already in post back. Very simple. No extra ID requested just my signature and reconfirmation of current address and employment details
NB I always ask companies to send the application forms instead of printing off myself which was an option. Often they send details of products of which I may have been unaware of or which may be in pipeline.

Many thanks for confirming that. I'll get the application done tomorrow.

They kept the 5.3% 7 or 8 months longer than they had to and just for that alone I won't be moving my money out. Also as many have already stated 5% these days is still very decent(0.5% more than those clowns at INGDirect).
