Reserve and collect, and Distance Selling regulations

Last Wednesday I went on the B&Q website and ordered a Black and Decker electric hedge trimmer under B&Q's 'reserve and collect' scheme. I duly collected it on Thursday and paid £64. As I write, it is still in its box, unused, and I have all the paperwork.
Today the very same hedge trimmer is being advertised by B&Q in the papers for £43. Annoying or what........
The question is, as I reserved the thing online, do the Distance Selling Regulations apply? In which case, I can presumably return it unused within seven days, claim my refund, and then buy another one for £43?
Thanks for any opinions.

You made the contract instore. Therefore the DSR do not apply.
Have you contacted the store to ask if you can return your item and buy again at the new price?Gone ... or have I?0 -
No - that's my next step, obviously, but I thought I'd check what my rights are before I ask the question.0

well I would try taking it back, getting a refund.
Then buy the cheappie.
What's their normal return policy?
Rights wise as long as the goods are fit for purpose the contract can stand. But as with many large chains B&Q might operate a 'change of mind' policy. Thus enabling you to return it.
(They offer a 28 day return for online - they may also offer that in store)Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily DickinsonJanice 1964-2016

Yah just take it back - you could ask if they'll just give you the difference as that's easier than taking it back then buying it again.0

B&Q are usually pretty good with returns and refunds (I've done exactly this before). They will usually give a refund no quibble. If they ask you why you want to return it, tell them that you're getting someone in to trim the hedges for you. Then, if you're bold enough, simply walk into the store and make your purchase or wimp back to the car park and head for another branch.
Remember though, you are not legally entitled to a refund so if they say no, the answer is no.0 -

I wouldn't be as brash as that unless their T&Cs include a price promise. I'd keep it low key, go for the refund in cash / vouchers for whatever reason and then re-purchase. Save the aggro for another time.....0 -
B&Q offer a 28 day no quibble return in-stores too, so just take it back.0
-
Its actually 90 day return with B&Q.0
