  • Shambles: My first order on Tesco.com‏

I placed an order (13534613) on last Saturday, Oct. 3rd and scheduled delivery on Oct. 6th.

To be honest, the website is brilliant. I've got no issues with picking up things and placing the order. Only one thing I confused at first but was assured doubtably in the end. The thing is some offers on the website, 2 for 2.00, buy one get one free and eCoupons, are not displayed or deducted when checking out. However, the note on the website does say those offers will be redeemed on the day of delivery.

First, Tesco.com customer service rang me to inform that the driver cannot deliver my order last night (Oct 6th) and re-scheduled to the next evening, Oct 7th.

Finally, my order came tonight with a bill of 85.xx pounds!!! In your order confirmation letter, the guide price is 66.82 excluding some offers and the eCoupon of 10-pound off. How can the order go so wrong?! I had a quick look at the bill and found none of the items I ordered are on offer, neither is a sign of the eCoupon.

I do like to ask what is happening on Tesco.com's system?

Later on, I realized that all offers on those items I ordered ended yesterday, Oct 6th! What a timing! Does it sound like a ploy that the system deliberately delayed my order delivery so it can rip me off?

Hang on! I ordered everything and placed the order on Oct 3rd! As a matter of fact, you confirmed my order on that day. Logically speaking, no matter when my order is delivered, the item prices should refer to those on Oct. 6th, not to those on the day of delivery. Correct me, if I am wrong.

And I did notice that the delivery cost on the bill tonight went up from 3 to 3.50. Yes, it's just 50p. However, am I to blame for cancelling the delivery last night? If it's Tesco.com's fault, why shall I bear the cost of Tesco.com's fault?

For those aforementioned reasons, I rejected the delivery by all means.

Now, sadly speaking, it is too late for me to catch up with those offers in REAL Tesco shops.

Thank you TESCO.COM, I shall bear the thing in mind for long and offer my consolation to those who share my experiences in the future.

PS: Another shock came when I went through my bank statement. Tesco.com charged me twice!! The first one is 54.xx, the one as guide price minus 10 pound eCoupon and the second one is 85.xx, the one came with the driver on delivery.

Tesco.com did refunded the 85.xx but still charged me 54.xx!!! Good God! I got nothing from them but being charged 54.xx!!!

Start to chase up the payment straight away... but found out when people ring their 0845 custom service number, on orange mobile, the tariff is 40 p per minute. You will still be charged even though you have free minutes with orange.

    Tesco.com... I am speachless!!!

Even Tesco are allowed to make mistakes... Did you contact them to tell them what happened? If you have and they have declined to honour the discounts I would agree it's a rip off and you would be right to post a rather long email to complain about them here.

Read the site blurb - doesn't matter when you place the order - it's the day it's delivered is that the price is based on as that's when they perform the shop for you.
So yes any offers would be lost.

The confirmation at the end does actually say which items won't be eligible - but sure if they changed the delivery date and thus some offers expired that isn't your issue and Tesco if they have a good customer service bone should honor them or give you vouchers for discount next time.

Never call them - as you'll be charged. E-mail them instead. This is often better as you can show the confirmation order and the goods you purchased, rather than trying to explain it over the phone.

    simples.
  • The problem with emailing them to complain is that 1) they don't always reply 2) when they do they don't always get it right 3) when you then have to ring to get it put right the people on the phone can't see your previous emails. Grrr!

I know this because I sent back an item on my last delivery and the driver obviously forgot to put it through as it wasn't refunded. I emailed to this effect but as it had been a price-matched item they refunded the wrong amount. I emailed for the 3rd time to tell them only for their reply to tell me it had been previously refunded - they didn't bother to read the email properly. Grrr!!!!

At least on the phone you can ensure the complaint is dealt with to your satisfaction...or not! When I got through to a supervisor and explained my annoyance at their customer service (or lack of), she then refunded the missing amount, only to get it wrong! Yes they gave me 5p extra - when I sarcastically suggested this was for all my hassles she agreed.

I then said I would be shopping at Sainsburys in future and she agreed that was my perogative.

So 'stuff you Tesco's'! I only went back because they sent a money-off coupon, I will not be spending my money with them again unless it is monetarily in my interests...and still I will bare in mind how appalling their customer service now is. At least its freephone to complain to Sains & Waitrose...

I have just ordered £135 worth of groceries from Asda through Quidco with 1% cashback, its not a lot but its something on top of the free delivery code that actually worked. Asda seem to have more free delivery codes around that do work than tescos do so I'm just giving up on them now.

Before doing this I tried every single code going for tescos on 3 different accounts and I am just fed up with having to do this every time I try to order.

Asdas website is much improved, not perfect but it is much easier and nicer to use now and thats my first order on the new website so I'm sure it will get even easier. Until tesco get themselves sorted with this code thing I'm just not wasting my time on them anymore and who knows I might not want to go back
    Thanx

There's a new & improved (?) Tesco website on the way. It will show the discounts from multibuys etc, so you get an accurate price for your shopping. Also very clearly shows the offers which expire before your delivery date so you can choose or decline them.
Definately some improvements, but currently quite slow to run.
Not sure when it will be going live, I've just been selected to test it.

PS - no, I don't work for them!!!
    Now proud Mumto3 :j
  • Always make sure you book your delivery slot before doing your shopping, then when you check out it should tell you which offers end before your delivery date, i also keep my delivery date in mind and glance at the promotion end dates to see if they are still valid for my delivery as its frustrating to be told at the end of a big shop that half of the things are no longer on promotion!

Also - opening a new Tesco account is easy, just use a different email address, you wont be able to use your clubcard as it will state you already have an account with that card, but i find the £5 / £10 off more beneficial than say 80p in points! I have more than a few accounts lol

Did anyone else get an e-mail from Tesco a few weeks back saying that they will now text you a more accurate time for delivery? I can't find the e-mail now and wondered if I dreamt it!! lol
