New Car Insurance for an over 40
Whynot
Have always been as spouse on our car insurance and have been driving for about 20 years with only ever one claim against me and that was about 8 years ago. I now need to take insurance out for myself only. Would I be caught for a very expensive insurance as if I were just a new driver or would all my years of driving under "spouse" roll count towards getting a quote close to what I normally get? Is there a good insurance company anyone can recommend for this.

Try a broker and see if you can get an introductory discount to reflect your incident free driving history (note your history needs to be incident free, not just claim free)
"No claim discount" does have to be earned (by buying insurance, not just being an incident free driver on someone else's policy).
Some companies will mirror the discount if a second policy is taken out with them (eg morethan)0 -
If you are a male driver it can be worth including your spouse on the policy as it can reduce the premium0

Thanks folks for the help.0
