I wanna: Entertain 100 teenagers

Options
Anyone got any suggestions how I can entertain 100 or so 17-20 year olds for as little money as possible. I'm organising a summer school type thing, and I want to provide some opportunities for teambuilding and fun.

Thanks

I feel I can help you out with some ideas if you provide me with some more information?

What sort of background are the teenagers from? Are they from poor backgrounds or average earners etc?

What is their willingness to work as a team?

How many days’ activities are you planning for?

You're going to have to break them down into four or five smaller groups and have them doing different activities on a rotation. Then just get them all together for an afternoon to watch a movie and have popcorn or something. I assume you're not going to be responsible for 100 teens on your own so try to find out what the strengths of the people helping you are. When I worked on playschemes (with 8-11 yr olds) I used my experience of having been in a youth theatre to run drama workshops with the kids. Other people working there were keen sportsmen and could teach basketball. You're going to need to provide a range of different types of activity since they won't all like the same things. And you'll need to allow flexibility in case the weather doesn't suit or you have more or less people than expected.

If you know anyone who can break dance you could get them to come down, show off a little and teach a few moves. Then maybe you could put some sort of routine together with a simple ensemble part for the shyer ones or ones who aren't as good and the opportunity for the better dancers to show off with solos. We had someone come in to run a dance workshop with a group of kids who were generally a little rougher than the other local playschemes and who were predominantly male. We were absolutely dreading it but we sold it to them as cool street dance, all very Run DMC. It turned out some of the boys could break a little and in fact they got really into it. We all learned a dance routine that the girl who came in to run the session had come up with. We ended with a girls V boys dance-off which the boys won. I know quite a few people at uni who are interested in breakdancing so I think that's one that could probably work for you.

    Organise a Walking "car" rally.
Divide them into 20 teams of 5, they have to walk around local arae answering questions you've set.
