Virgin Prepaid Credit Card problem

I had £22 or so on my card, and used £18 of it to fund a transaction via Alertpay.com, but Alertpay gave me an error message while it was going through and the money never went through. Now my Virgin card balance is still £22 but with only £4 or so 'available to spend'. It say's the rest is 'pending' even though the money never went to Alertpay. I've E-Mailed them and will ring them tomorrow morning but has anyone had anything like this happen before? How long will it stay 'pending'? Any help and advice much appreciated :)

Unless manually removed, the authosiation will stay on from 7 to 10 days depending on Virgin. They can manually remove it if they want.

it is up to 30 days with a Mastercard I am afraid, 3-4 days with Visa. Only Virgin calling Alert Pay or the other way around will get it removed, they wont take it off without confirmation the transaction is not going to be debited from the card account.

Agree with the above post its the merchant who has to cancel the pending transaction, I have to do this alot for some customers at my place of work normally involves sending the bank a fax on headed paper confirming the funds will not be taken.
