An email from Santander begins with:
Dear xxxxx

This year, GE Capital Bank Limited, the company who provides your House of Fraser account, was acquired by Banco Santander. We have previously communicated this to you and have advised that you don’t need to do anything differently - we’ll continue to manage your account as normal.

From next Wednesday, 27th May, you’ll start to see references to ‘Santander Cards’ within the communications sent to you about your account. Amongst the first things you’ll notice are changes to our email addresses…

It is a genuine email as they have included the last 3 digits of my post code and there's no dodgy links in it etc.

Now, you may think that's nice of them to email me. But, there's a problem. I don't have a House of Fraser card!

I have an Asda card, which is run by GE Money and that's the card they've 'previously communicated' with me about.

I remember seeing people on here having problems when they tried to change the log in for the online banking, with it showing different brands for the cards they had.

You would have thought they would learn from their mistakes. This is nothing more than incompetence, which unfortunately sounds about right from what I've heard of Santander.

I know it's only an email, but if they can't get even the most basic of things right it seriously makes me wonder if I should trust them with more important things like my finances.

Has anybody else had an email about the wrong card? It was only by chance I actually opened this one, I would've normally dismissed it as a phishing email.

    Hi,
I recieved the exact same email and started to worry myself as i also don't have a house of fraser card, but i do have an asda everyday card and a debenhams staff card both run by ge/ santander.

Looks like a case of sending the email to the wrong mailing list!

Maybe still worth a ring to express concern?

UPDATE: I rung house of fraser card services and they appolgised and said that they are aware of the issue basicly was told that the email was sent to all asda card customers by mistake, they also said that they will be sending an email to everybody affected to appologise and provide further details.

The guy has also logged a complaint for me and somebody will be in touch to discuss it.

    Hope this helps Rob

Just to let you know that i have been given £20 compensation for this to cover the cost of checking credit report, phone call ,stress etc.

Worth a phone call didn't even have to make a formal complaint, i was put on hold for about 2 minutes and the adviser came back saying they would give me £20 - the amount was suggested by them and it was on my card the next day!

    Hope this helps

Ah you poor love, god forbid anything serious happens in your life, if it stresses you out to make a formal complaint.

Can't stand whiners, who whine over trivial matters.

If you actually read my post you will see that i didn't have to make a formal complaint, the adviser suggested that they would make this payment to cover any stress, costs incurred etc.

I only orginaly rung to make sure it wasn't fraud, alert them to this.
