meter reading error

I tried to enter a new meter reading on the npower automated system but i was transferred to customer services. It would appear that they have logged the previous meter reading wrong on the system so it does not tally with my new reading. It would appear that in two weeks i used 700 units (which is what i use in 5 months)
Customer service said it would take a month to sort out.
Has anyone had similar experiences with wrong meter readings? Did they take your word for it? They did not say they would have to visit the meter.
This company has so far been a joke.

npower are definitely a joke! but a costly one!

whatever you do, never agree to allow npower into your home to give you a "free safety survey" of your domestic wiring.. to do so is madness..

npower's electricians who visit are paid to bully us into agreeing to unnecessary work that they say MUST be done... They even threaten to have your mains supply cut off if you don't agree.

e.g. they will try and tell you that the "regulations" say that you must have a split-load consumer board, and not an old style cartridge fuse box, of the type that is in most homes today.

indeed the regulations do say that split-load boards should be fitted, but those regulations apply only to new homes.. but npower forget to tell you that bit.. and this sleight of hand is used to bully old people into parting with many hundreds of pounds for unnecessary electrical work..

all part of the npower experience... another rogue company.. run by crooks..

as for your bill, we can guess why npower is so eager to read your meter... the wholesale price has collapsed and they want to gouge us for as many kWh as possible at the old (higher) tariff..

    Hello

I spent over an hour this morning to both Npower and Scottish power.

I got a bill for over £500 for electricity usage from npower last Oct/Nov, this was a final bill from them as I changed to Scottishpower in Oct. TBH I didnt query it that much....except for thinking blioody hell......that new electric oven and dishwasher must be eating energy, as npower had not sent me any bills for over a year.

When I got the £500 bill I rang npower to say I couldnt afford to pay it all at once can we come to some arrangement, and they agreed to accept payments of £40 per month. I made several payments then totally out of the blue one day in February I received a cheque for £98 from npower, apparently they had worked my bill for gas wrong. This led me to query my electric bill.............

Before I left npower I gave my meter readings in response to phone calls from an "outsourced company" basically a call centre from another company, not British, asked me for meter readings on behalf of npower, I'm Scottish but consider myself fairly well spoken but obviously something was lost in translation !!!!

To cut a long story short and after a few letters from Debt Collection agencies Npower agreed to hold the account and according to the person I spoke to today I can look forward to another hopefully of at least the same amount cheque.

I must say though that anytime I've rang Npower and Scottishpower since February to get this sorted, their Customer Services have been excellent, they should have sorted it all out before now I admit, but all the operators were helpful and polite

Hope you get your query sorted soon
