Travelling to Edinburgh

I work by Hermiston Gate - and it's a good 20 minutes drive even outside peak hours. Then you'd have to add on 20-30 minutes getting into Edinburgh from there.Only ten minutes or so if you are away from the peak traffic hours.
As for Dreghorn TL, I've stayed there and whilst it isn't great it isn't that noisy. Nearest bus BTW is the 16 which is about quarter of a mile away in Retford Road

Yes ,from the ring road. A8/A71 into the city if they were driving. (certainly not via Gorgie  ) Not a great deal longer and if they are driving, a better proposition than Dreghorn IMO. Even if it is just a better choice of where you have breakfast.
A71 probably takes you in nearer the Travelodge, despite it being a slower road.0
