Ideas on posting overseas

Hi
Im in the middle of selling some old rock programs and im gettting a few messages from people in Germany asking about post and packing.
I put a article on hear a few weeks ago about posting to USA and was advised to get signed for on delivery.
Am i ok posting standard Air Mail with it been in Europe and not rest of the world.
Trouble with signed for is it can nearly treble the cost of posting and dont want to put people off.
Or are there any other methods iv missed
Thanks

How much do you expect to sell for ?

Standard proof of posting will cover you to £39 for airmail worldwide. Not sure what is best above that.

I've sent quite a few ebay sales to Europe via standard airmail and have never had any problems- I would only go for signed for if you're expecting big sales

Again it depends on what price you sell for. I have sold quite a lot to Germany recently, I don't know why as they have been quiet for a while. I have never had a problem just sent normal first class air mail small packet. Relativeley cheap and always had feedback immediately. Over £39 then I send international signed for.

Don't forget that International signed for still covers only £39 of loss, so make sure you pay for extra insurance. It is one of those things that all of us think we know but haven't actually read...we all assume it is actually like special delivery in the UK where extra insurance is automatically included:

Get up to to the value of 100 First Class stamps in compensation for loss or damage. If you’re sending valuable items, you can get additional cover of up to £250 or £500, depending on the destination.

(Please note that the maximum compensation for cash and money sent via International Signed For™ is £100 and that cash cannot be sent at all to a number of countries – please check with Royal Mail Customer Services on 08457 740 740 for more details. Also additional cover is not available for mobile telephones and so the maximum compensation for mobile telephones sent via International Signed For™ is the value of 100 First Class stamps).
