Hiya everyone,
Me, my partner and my little girl are currently with the parents!! Yes I am lucky..:D
We have been living with the parents for around 1 year now and have been saving for a deposit for a nice little house. I have around 6k and my partner has around 12k.
We aim to have around 30k within the next year to two years time. I am currently saving a minimum of £500 a month!!!
It seems never ending and I desperately want to get a newer car!!
How can i put these cravings to rest?

Get quotes for insurance, that might put you off!
Sounds like you are doing well though. My boyfriend and I are saving £600 a month between us (we are renting so difficult to save more) and are on target to reach £25k next April. We'll have been saving for about 3 years by then.0 -
I've have been saving up too although I'm single and have about £23K saved up. I started saving up over 2 years agoCompetion Wins 2008 - £1700 - 2009 £5300
2010- £6800 -
I know the feeling of never ending saving! Plus i'd like a new car too. I keep reminding myself to prioritse and remember what I need more.
Sounds like you are doing v.well with your savng so far! Keep at it and you'll have a place of your very own in no-time!
What percentage of the house price is £30k likely to get you in your area? i.e 10% deposit?Squish0 -
Get your little girl to draw you a picture of her ideal house, that way every time you want the newer car it'll give you something to focus on to remind you of why you are saving :-)
It's not easy, I saved for 5 years for my house, but I have the money now and am about to make a purchase - I never thought I would make it but thanks to Martin and MSE'ers I finally have a place to call my ownMortgage Free since January 2018!0 -
It can seem never-ending - just when you approach your original target you realise the goalposts have moved again and you need to save even more and so it goes on.
I don't miss days at all, but the renovations that come after you've bought remain very much in my thoughts - and bank balance!0 -
You should put all your goals in high priorities before craving to other things. Good luck!0
