20yr old car conundrum ----> scrappage scheme best deals, any ideas?
Hellooo everyone,
My car is 20yrs old (i think thats about 110 in car years isn't ?) and it got it MOT on the 28th, & don't know if its going to make it thro. Poor old girl
Anyhoo, does anyone know the best/cheapest deals i can get with (or without) car scrappage scheme. Preferably one thats hybrid or good mile per gallon + cheap tax. Heres the punch-line......i'v only 3-4 grand (if that) (if its a really good deal might be able to sell the other kidney too tho).
If anyone has ideas/suggestion, be good to hear from you........Cheers !

IIRC some of the Kia's are working out at about 4k after scrappage (I think the Picanto is 4.5k, and the Rio 5k as a rough guide), and oddly enough in some cases it's cheaper to get one with a higher starting price due to the way the scrappage is being applied, for example my sister was looking at cars and one had 3k total scrappage applied, another 3.5k despite it starting a couple of hundred more before the deal.
I think the Peugeot's are offering some pretty good deals but their starting prices tend to be much higher.
You must have a current MOT cert though, so it may be worth getting a check done on your car before it's next MOT is due- according to both the dealers, and an MOT station i've talked to as long as it's got a current MOT that is in date it should be ok even if you get another MOT done early and it fails* (no idea how that works, but as I say two different dealers and a tester have all said that as long as the earlier MOT is still in date that'll do).
*My sister had her car booked in for a pre-mot check and some communications mix up meant they did an MOT 6 weeks early (which failed), so we checked and were pleasantly surprised by the answer.0 -
