hsbc visa debit card

Options
i made an online purchase on wednesday night (i booked a flight for which i have already received confirmation) using my new hsbc visa debit card, its now friday and the money is yet to be debited from my account.

i was wondering how long does it usually take for the money to be debited as i would of expected the money to have been debited by now as it would have been in the past were i using my old hsbc maestro card.

any help much appreciated,thanks :)

    Hi

My transactions with my HSBC Visa usually come out the next working day after the purchase has been made....the same that used to happen with my HSBC Maestro.

Some transactions of mine have taken 5 days, just depends on when the retailer banks the transaction.
  • it really depends.... but the authorisartion should take into account ur available balance.... i know debit cards some times are a bit slow in registering info.

i would factor the cost of purchase when using the cards.... in case these scam merchants decide to charge u for exceeding \any overdraft or just going overdrawn

Personally you have that the wrong way round lol, larger amounts would ALWAYS be authorised, smaller sometimes go through using what was known as the floor limit.

    I spent £74 odd.....

Lol, trust me we're all amateurs really ......... big pond, little fish and all that! I know what you mean but logic would suggest smaller payments use a floor limit whereas larger would have to be authorised..... but then this is banks we're speaking about so logic goes out the window lol
