You don't have to type in a suitable price. You can type in 99999999 and you can still win at a reasonable price. If you've got two toddlers bidding on the same item, then you're screwed.

What are the odds on their being two toddlers left unattended by their parents for long enough with the same web page open?

......could be a good ploy for avoiding paying for something though if you've changed your mind.....just tell the seller that little jonny hijacked my account.

It was a 'buy in now' so she only had to click a couple buttons, i must of left the page up on the pc and she clicked a few buttons, My daughter could read at 2.5 years (she has Aspergers and a very high IQ) and could work the PC to get into CBeebies etc..

Thank you for taking the time and trouble to come back and explain further - so many times the story someone tells doesn't add up in my mind and I like to 'know' :p these mysteries.

I think in this instance my definition of bid was slightly different to yours but well done to your little girl for winning the bid - I hope it was something you actually wanted

colony - I laughed at the two toddler joke anyway :D

    mrcow - I still like you ;)

OK, look at it a different way then, this means that we don't need to educate the children but we do need to educate the adults.

If people have so little understanding of internet security that they have all their passwords enabled then despite how clever the children may or may not be surely the parents must then stand up and take the blame for being naive enough to work in an unsafe manner?

When I had young children I knew they could open kitchen cupboards at a young age, so I put safety catches on, when they worked out how the safety catches worked I replaced them with more secure ones until they reached an age where they had theunderstanding that they mustn't touch things. It was my responsibility to keep them safe.

Surely that still applies or am I so out of touch? It seems incredible to me that it appears to be normal to allow very young children completely free access to an internet that the parents either choose not to have protection on or don't know how to operate themselves safely. It might be amusing to parents that their children can buy something on ebay, 'aw bless' but exactly how funny would it be on a different site where perhaps the content was completely unsuitable for young children?

If 3 year old children were being allowed access to an unrestricted internet and viewed hard core !!!!!!, would parents still say 'aw bless' or would they have any feelings of guilt at all. Likewise what if they came across your banking online while your back was turned and transferred £5k to someone you didn't know , would that still be 'aw bless' ?

Even my Dad can't use Ebay, so I don't see how a 2 year old could!

I could read by the age of 4. But as soolin says surely the responsibilty lies with the parents protecting from the dangers of the internet, or is because it's soft stuff that it's not so much a problem. If they got bleach in their eyes they'd be off to hospital but viewing inappropriate material etc may just need a shrink many years later.

There are a few, from memory, checks before just purchasing something - and without kids I still don't leave my ebay account accessible on my PC.

It's not cute and I like the idea of NPB being filed for them.

Bottom line is... people could use the "my 2 year old bid on it" excuse to get out of paying for items after they have changed their minds. There's no way of telling who's lying and who's tellng the truth, so NPB's all round then?

I always NPB that way I don't have to decide who I think is lying and who I believe, I treat them all the same.
