can i read dvd rom

:T canput a dvd rom into any body help i have a laptop with dvd/cd/writer dose this mean if i put a dvd rom disc into the drive should windows ask what you want to do,i put a cd rom in the drive and windows see that dose this mean there is asomething wrong with my drive, thank very much if anybody can help :T

not exactly sure what your asking.
from what i can tell of course you can put a dvd disc into the drive and it will work.
if windows asks what you want to do, that is another thing. it does not mean anything is wrong with the drive.

insert the dvd or cd and browse to the drive letter from my computer.

thanks for your reply ,what i am trying to do is back up advd rom ,i have backed up a cd/rom but we i put the dvdrom inthe drive windows dose not see it thats why i think there is some thing wrong with my drive ,thank you.

Do other DVD's work. What they type of DVD is it ie a blank dvd that has been writtens. There are issues with dvd/cds in that on rare occasions some drives cant reads discs due to the way they been wriiten of the media used.

what type of laptop is it? Is the drive a DVD/CD writer or a DVD rom and CD writer.

also you cannot just backup all dvdroms, depends on the data, eg if its dvd video it could need to be decrypted.

i got some trial software of the internet to make a back up for my grandson who is only five, he has caused some damage recently. First made a backup of a cd disc and that worked (with swap magic 3). So when I put a new game in DVD ROM the computer does not recognize it. My laptop EI SYSTEMS 4431. Thanks for any help.

firstly get rid of the trial software because its not needed.

what is the title you are tying to copy, im assuming its a ps2 game? beacuse your using swap magic.

use dvd decrypter to read the iso and burn it back.
