Barclaycard Advised PPI Details

Hi all. Long time lurker, first time poster. Please be gentle
I have received a big fat envelope from Barclaycard with all of my personal data that I requested in preparation for a PPI claim.
It was a telephone application a few years ago, and I can see on the 'Advised Insurance Sales Details' page that they asked me a few questions:
Q. If your financial cards were lost or stolen, would you benefit from a service that allows you to make one call to cancel all of your cards and order replacements, and which also protects your liability against fraudulent use?
A. Yes
Q. Do you already have insurance which covers you for this?
A. No.
Is this misselling or did I stupidly agree to something that I didn't understand or wasn't explained to me better? I certainly can't remember any more of the conversation. Anyway, I cancelled the PPI about 18 months later (this was when I noticed it on a statement!) and in answer to their question on why I wanted to cancel, the printout says 'tpremium too high'. Damn true...
Also, if I was to get made redundant, die or become ill, my benefits from work would more than cover the cost of the card so I certainly didn't need the insurance in the first place.
I'd appreciate any feedback on how to proceed please as this is my first claim.
Cheers

Hi there and welcome.;)
In my opinion you should have still been given the choice anyway.
And they did not check with you if you already had adequate cover such as with your employer even if your didn't have any with another provider, and besides you may have wanted to purchase a stand alone option.
There are still many reasons.
Check this link here below and you will come across useful information, and templates, write your own reasons in the letter.

Follow the guidelines.
They have 8 weeks to respond in full.
If they do not resolve this, they may give you the opportunity to write to them again in order for them to reconsider.
In the final response they should give details of the Financial ombudsman service (FOS) if your not satisfied with the outcome.
Post all letters by recorded delivery, good luck.;)The one and only "Dizzy Di"

This isn't PPI this is to protect against loss, theft or fraudulent use. It wouldn't pay out if you were unable to make your repayments.0

Well picked up on there melorablack. I assumed it was PPI until I read it again. Certainly seems like credit card protection they are talking about????melorablack wrote: »This isn't PPI this is to protect against loss, theft or fraudulent use. Yep, you can try and reclaim it but it is a bit difficult to say it was mis sold because there is no eligibility criteria and anyone with a card can use it....
and I have done some of these complaints but they got declined ...sorry

I will have to read more careful next time, these type of covers confuse me.
So like a debit card then, depend what type of account you have, such as a platinum, gold or premier, as they have protection also, which is all inclusive etc......The one and only "Dizzy Di"

Yep and if you have 1 policy with any bank or credit card then you will probably not need another one because generally they let you add all your cards to the one policy.
I personally don't see the point in it because if I lost my purse I could just call up my card providers and get them to cancel and reissue my cards myself. I don't need to pay someone £15 - £30 a year (or whatever the premium is) to do it.

Although... I did get a premium back from barclays because they renewed the policy without asking me on a closed credit card. When I got the statement I called to cancel it within the cooling off period only to be told I could only cancel it within 14 days.
I pointed out that when the account is closed and the first I know about there being a balance on the account is 21 days after the policy was added, how am I going to cancel it within 14 days of it being added????
I wrote a very angry letter and got my £30 back
