Tesco credit card

I have been rejected for a Tesco credit card- I am fuming! First time I have been rejected for credit.

I have a small mortgage and a credit card that I pay off in full. I (luckily) even earn enough to qualify for their finest card! I thought my credit rating was good but not so sure now.

Any ideas why they would do such a thing?

I have asked both Equifax and Experian for a copy of my credit file so lets see what is in there....

Perhaps you just haven't got ENOUGH credit history for them to say yes ironically. Ive had sh*tloads of cards but never yet been turned down because ive never defaulted and have lots of 'form'

That is probably your problem as RBS would probably not make any money out of you!

    Thanks. . . I have calmed down a bit!

That is probably it. My husband has a RBS card and pays it off every month, just like me with the Barclaycard. Anyway- will have to find an alternative card to apply for as I am fed up with Barclaycard since they stopped doing nectar.

I was turned down the first time i applied for a tesco card,
I'm the same as you always pay my credit cards off in full, i had a halifax credit card at the time but it had rather a high spending limit on it, when i phoned Tesco to find out why i had been turned down they said it might have been cos i had such a high limit on my other credit card.

I lowered my spending on my halifax credit card and reapplied for a tesco card and was given one no problem :j

I have a £10k limit on 1 credit card- but rarely spend over £500 a month. Do you think that could be it?
Tescos told me that I couldnt reapply for 8 months!

Yes it could be cos mine on my halifax card was roughly that if i remember right, i think i lowered it to £2000.

    I reapplied after 6 months i think.
