Does anyone know what is going on with this? Aside from the special offers, are there any events going on? This has totally not been publicised not even in our local press.

They will giving out free cake in store over the weekend and free limited edition bags for life in place of the normal bags. Other than that I think its store dependent.

Nothing much seemed to be going on in my local this afternoon other than the supervisors were dressed up and walking around with collection buckets for RNLI. I did get offered 1 free limited edition bag for life though.

I got a free bag for life limited edition too.

Nothing else seemed to be happening.

I think there is more happening this weekend.

I got the free bag and 2 staff were costumed=yesterday for about an hour. But heard nothing in local press etc. Pity. Both M&S and Sainsbusrys could have had more fun with this - dressing up etc- which would have been a nice boost to shoppers and rewards for their loyalty etc.In this current climate any simple pleasure and reason for fun and a smile would really give a boost to those downhearted and suffering as a result of the recession.If I had been in management of one of these stores, I would have made an effort to think of more to do - not necessarily to make profit but just a little lift to customers and staff.

The bags for life in my store today (Edinburgh) were free, just help yourself. 25% of toys & clothing until Monday.... think this may be for the bank holiday rather than their birthday

At the Sainsburys where my Ds2 works, they are been given the ingredients for a cake to make at home too :cool:

Yeah all the stores are giving that out to staff along with the increase of the discount to 20% this weekend. Went to a larger store today and took advantage of it, saved about £40.
