Hi all
We have got a gift of whalewatching in falmouth in cornwall. A cursory look around shows the cheapest tickets at 116! EACH  I knew rail services had gone through the roof, but this is ridiculous! Booking for Aprils end today.
Any thoughts. Really dont want to fly ( trying to be green) and we dont drive. Were in London.
I really dont want to coach all that way if we can help it...

 Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast

Check if there are any cheap flights, we flew with Easyjet about this time last year, Standsted to Newquay £1 plus taxes...There and back one day and plenty of buses to get everywhere in Cornwall.0

Not sure where you are getting these prices, on https://www.nationalrail.co.uk they are quoting £36 return off peak, leave London after 10 or anytime weekends or £58 return if leaving before 10. The £36 is an APEX ticket which has to be booked 7 days before travelling and you have to catch the train you booked, not very flexible but better than £116 !!0

Don't know why i did that sarahluv, but keep it all the same.sarahluv wrote:i'm sure that easyjet don't fly to newquay.
Easyjet don't fly to Newquay at all. Ryanair on the other hand....Vedra Nativa0 -
Easyjet do not fly to Newquay at the moment BUT Ryanair do .
did a quick check , flights are 1 a day from Stansted for £1.79 pp plus taxes so £60.38 for the 2 of you , and money left over to stay in a cheap b&b.
I used 18/4-19/4 as the dates because early in the week is cheaper .

Yeah really dont want to fly due to the impact on the environment. (dont mind it for long haul, but not a fan of flying internally where it can be avoided! )
Cheers for the BR link, i did look at that but will try again!

this is my first post, hope it's in the right place?
we are looking to travel from newquay (cornwall) on either the 16/17 of april up to heathrow and back to newquay on the 28 th april, like lynzpower we can only find only expensive fares on the train.
please can someone help me find a fares more like £36 each.
there are 2 adults and one 6 year old.
we can be flexible with times.
thank you.0 -
What about one way car rental (assuming you can drive)?
You would be surprised how cheap it is to rent a car to get to your destination and drop it off at the other end. Most of the nationals e.g. National, Europcar, Avis offer this facility. I do it all the time to get from Somerset to Heathrow and back when I am doing my US trips, it saves a fortune on car park charges. If I remember correctly it costs around £25 for the car, £25 for home delivery and then fuel on top of that.
