CapitalOne Rant

Options
Hi Guys,

sorry just need a rant!

been looking for a card to B/T some high interest debt onto. My rating isnt very good so i applied for the capital one card with the low rate for a long period.

actually got accepted through the credit check and got asked to send my proofs in.
i did this but the proofs were not accepted, well one was one wasnt. so i was asked to send in my birth cert which i did.

i called to say it was in the post and would be there soon so she said call and check we have it in 3-4 days.

i call 2 days later only to find my application has been cancelled as she only extended the app by one day for the proofs despite saying call back in 3-4 days!!!

i now have to totally re apply and have another credit search on my file!!

thanks capital one!!!!

anyone know which credit agency they use, and also which is most popular as i want to subscribe to one of the three.

thanks

I take it you're on the electoral roll at your current address. Lenders score us differently, but everyone's rating improves no end once registered.

When completing applications, I'd make sure your name and current address matches your details as they appear on the electoral register and your credit report. Pay particular attention to the way first name(s) as well as surname are recorded. Also a line of your address may be inserted/omitted or the order reversed, where new build, a house name or a block of flats is involved. You'd be surprised how often this happens.

Get this right and you'll avoid having to post documents as proof of ID every time you apply for credit/savings accounts.

More importantly, some lenders routinely reject applicants whose ID cannot be verified electronically via the CRAs. An extra line inserted in your address (eg. previously unused house name) can immediately kibosh an application.

We cannot be certain which credit card providers search a particular agency's files (lenders do not disclose this information), but it's known that most use Experian, so that one matters more ;)
