So I got the keys to my flat yesterday and went to have a look (not moving in fully till 4th June) problem - I can't find the gas & electric meters :o

We have the boiler in the kitchen, fuses in hallway closet and temperature/time monitor thing in the hallway itself. I can't find any white boxes outside either.

oh and I'm with npower, lets hope they are good to me.

The meters could be in a storeroom or somewhere in entrance hall of flats. Maybe a cupboard outside. It could be that all the meters for the block are together. When you find them, note the readings and meter numbers.

well there's what I think is a small room at the bottom of the stairs but as far as I can tell it's locked.

I want to get the readings done and set up my accounts

Introduce yourself to your new neighbours and ask them if they know the whereabouts of their meter(s) :)

Or ask the landlord. You really should have the readings recorded on your inventory/statement of condition when you move in to avoid future problems.

That's no good. You both need to sign it as agreement to it being a true representation of the condition/contents. What happens if you need to modify something on the inventory/statement of condition? The LL (or his agent) needs to be there to agree the change.
