What do these mean?

Hi

I am just looking for someone to advise me as to what all the abbreviations mean. I am not used to text speak as such so don't really know. I have worked some of them out, but not sure of others. I would be grateful if I could find out as it would making reading the threads easier without me having to think of what things mean as such.

I don't really know what the family ones mean ie DS or DD or SDS or such I am assuming it is to do with their kids but not sure:confused:

The ones I know are:

HTH - Hope This Helps
OH - Other Half
IYSWIM - If You See What I Mean
IYKNIW - If You Know What I Mean
IMO - In My Opinion
IMHO - In My Honest Opinion

after those I am kind of stuck :rotfl:thanks in advance for any help received.

Thanks

    DS - dear son
    DD - dear daughter
    DSIL/DDIL - dear son/daughter in law
    DGS/DGD - dear grandson/grandaughter
    SDS/SDD - dear stepson/daughter
    DF - dear friend

It took me a while to work them out. I realised that anything that began with D meant dear so it must be a member of the family!

    Hiya

It took me a few minutes to find it but there is a list on the site (link below) of all the most commonly used abbreviations...

    Hope that helps

If I don't respond to your posts, it's probably because you're on my 'Ignore' list.
  • Thank you very much Briona and there was me thinking the H meant honest and in fact it means humble and in days gone by when I first began texting I used to thinking lol meant lots of love. I always thought that was really sweet and then my brother told it was actually laugh out loud.

Do we also have DEB (dear ex-boyfriend), DP (dear pet) and DNN (dear next-door neighbour)?
    Seriously, WHY??

Beeniecat, I think according to context, the D can be dear, darling, dratted or damned.

So then we can say things like 'DH has ruined my best dress :mad::mad:' and also 'DH is so lovely and helpful I just want to kiss him:A'

    and both can make sense!

Here is a site with all the "netlingo" abbreviations. At the top you will see the alphabet letters - click on any to see all the abbreviations starting with that letter. :)

    Never seen that before?!
