Just been notified that my egg money card has been used fraudulantly on-line yersterday.
Purchases from www.oyyy.co.uk, hugo boss and a theatre tikcet agency.
The they weren't authorised apart from the oyyy (computer) one which also managed to pass the mastercard security checks.
Egg seemed to expect this one to be fraudulant as well for some reason which made me think maybe it wasn't just me that had this problem.
A bit worrying.
The only new things I've used the card for recently are
Purchase from boots applicances
Linking with Payal account.
I also made a purchase from Amazon but have done that a number of times without problems.
Wondered if anyone else has had problems recently after dealing with these outlets or maybe with egg itself?

I found this had happened to me this week too
Luckily I checked my statement and saw 2 transactions both on the same day for mobile phone top-up. I called Egg immediately and they cancelled the card. Am hoping that the transactions will be cancelled as I have proof of my whereabouts for that date and that I am actually on a contract/diff network for my mobile. Like you I have hardly used my card - once at the PO and once to book airport parking!
These scumbags make me so angry:mad::mad::mad: am frightened to death now of using any cards!:smileyheaGot married in beautiful Sorrento 11th May 2010:smileyhea0 -
I've just had a call from Egg too!
Apparently some lil scrote tried to use my card on the 19th.
£780 transaction to Apple
£20 pre-pay 02 top up in Slough
2x 60p Amazon music tracks ...
card frozen and new one being sent out, they hope to complete their fraud investigation in 10 working days.
I asked if i was liable for the payments and they said "not if the fraud team confirm it is fraudulent"
i'm likeI was at work on the 19th ... Certainly not merrily purchasing things in Apple in Slough ...

Mine was 2 lots of 02 mobile top-up in Slough as well! On the 25th April - when I was happily sat watching Dancing on Ice in Birmingham. Scumbags!:smileyheaGot married in beautiful Sorrento 11th May 2010:smileyhea0 -
Somebody used my card number for a few purchases in February - about 7 purchases totalling around £600 including Microsoft. 2 of the attempts were for pornographic websites which Egg stopped immediately, they then contacted me. Quite impresssive that they spotted the fraudulent transactions before I did, as I check the account every few days.
They sent me a list of the fraudulent transactions asking me to sign to say I hadn't made them, also Microsoft sent them a copy of the internet transaction which Egg forwarded to me (it was for a download from Microsoft.com, the address was mine but the email address was hotmail - I was so tempted to email the account to tell them what scumbags they were).
Egg were great - card stopped, and new cards in less than a week, and transactions refunded to my account within 2 weeks, well before the statement date. There's something in the Egg t&cs that states they won't hold you liable for any transactions where the card is not actually present e.g. internet and phone.
I had suspected a Shell petrol station as the culprit as it was the only different place I'd used it, but not sure how the scumbag knew the correct address to use if it was that.0 -
Wonder if egg has an internal secutity problem?0

Wonder if egg has an internal secutity problem?
Unlikely, if so it would be more widespread than just a few people on here.
Sometimes fraudsters will randomly generate card numbers to try out. It's not really worth thinking about where the card was used recently either, the details could have been copied/cloned months ago but they waited until now to use them.
Or a retailers' database could have been hacked etc.0
