Can somebody help me?
I applied for a citibank plus account a few weeks ago. You have to have a £20000 annual income. I wonder because it doesn't say that you have to put it all in their account just that you have to have an annual income of £20,000. I was turned down because I failed the credit check/score. Barclays plus accounts credit check applications but HSBC don't. I really want to bank with them even if I can have a citibank basic bank account, you still need the annual income and I applied yesterday. Do they credit check their basic bank account applications?

Hi Karl,
I also recently applied for a Citibank Plus Account. The Welcome Pack arrived yesterday along with the Terms & Conditions.
The Terms & Conditions document applies to BOTH the Citibank Plus Account and the Citibank Access Account (Basic Bank Account)
From reading them last night, it does state something along the lines that you have to credit your current account with a minimum salary of £1500 per month (which equates to approx £23.5k before tax and NI) This does not seem to appear on their website - I can tell you the exact wording used when I get home this evening.
I was credit checked through Experian twice, once under a “general enquiry”, and once for “identification proposes to prevent money laundering”. Not sure about Equifax.
Interesting, I was also checked on the same day as an “Unrecorded Enquiry” by Egg Banking PLC (part of Citibank). I did not apply for a Credit Card as part of the process, nor have I ever applied for an Egg Credit Card. I did however apply for the £500 interest free overdraft on the current account.
Hope this helps.

For the Access account, the requirement to credit salary is only if you want the overdraft, otherwise there's no deposit requirements0

Hi not sure about "Barclays plus accounts credit check applications but HSBC don't." I applied for an HSBC account and it showed up on my Credit report (twice in fact).0

Guys,
Recently applied for a Citigold account and 2 days later got a massive pack through about the Citigold account, Flexible Saver (4) and Gold Visa card. Said I'd been provisionally accepted. Will that mean they've already credit checked me?I spent 25 years in the mobile industry, from 1994 to 2019. Worked for indies as well as the big networks, in their stores also in contact centres. I also hold a degree in telecoms engineering so I like to think I know what I’m talking about 😂0 -

I was turned down by barclays plus account because of the credit check but when I was on the phone to HSBC talking about my current account advance I asked if I could have the plus account and he said yes and opened it up straight away and I recieved my card a week later therefore they don't credit check but if they do I must of passed it.0 -

It sounds like you are an exisiting HSBC current account customer, so they have just changed your account from one type to another. If you were new to HSBC or only had a basic account they certainly would run a credit check, just as any other bank would.0
