Volunteer work for under 16s?

I helped out at several animal places when I was much younger than 16, and this was only a few years ago. A goat sanctuary and a small animal sanctuary, but these places were rather casual about insurance etc. It wouldn't surprise me if red tape stops you doing anything remotely good for the community now. But definitely try smaller independent animal sanctuaries. Vet practices as well, although that's not really volunteering, more work experience.
The Vinvolved scheme sounds pretty good as well. You basically do 50 hours voluntary work, can do it anywhere really, and they give you a certificate that looks good on UCAS applications etc.

I'm sure not what age limits they have but groundwork.org.uk have projects all over the UK. Their aim is to work with local communities to improve community spaces, they also run a lot of out reach programs
