Credit Reports - Error on Martin's Money Tips

Ok, I arrived at the office around 9am, and have just managed (finally!) to get a copy of my credit report from Equifax. How long it will take to now cancel my sign up I dread to think.

Please note that the number given on this weeks MMT for Equifax is INCORRECT, and will connect you to a car leasing company. I have tried to notify the site of this, but this in itself was a bit of a mission, and all I've got back are automated responses telling me that my emails will not be read and providing links to FAQs. This is not very helpfu! Why is there not a simple easy to find way of reporting mistakes? I'm sure some clever clogs out there will tell me that it is possible, but I do have a life, and unlike some others I don't have time to spend hours working my way through what I know realise is an incredibly complicated, messy and not very intuitive website, just to report an error. I don't know, you try to help people, and it gets you nowhere.

Anyway, the Equifax signing up process didn't work, so had to phone them, which also didin't work, so here I am after two hours with my credit report. Was it worth it? Well, yes. Although I've got green lights for pretty much everything, I think it's worth checking once a year or so to see what information is out there, so I suggest people go for it even if it's just for interest.

Rich

PS: Sorry for the above rant...I fell much better now.

Maybe the website has changed, but when I got my report last year I found it very easy to report problems.
I just clicked the "online dispute" button.
  • Sorry, just to clarify, the rant about reporting problems with the site relates to MoneySavingExpert, not Experian (although now I think of it maybe it should apply to both).
