Requesting charges to not be repaid into account?

Hi guys and girls,

My question is at the title says really, I am in the early stages or requesting bank charges back so fingers crossed but just looking forward, I am currently £1000 overdrawn and am currently attempting to claim back £1100, I am worried that eventually if I am successfull Barclays will pay back directly into my account and then close it which I obviously dont want.

Do I have a right to state I do NOT want these charges paid directly into my account?

cheers in advanced.

Scott

So you are now o/d £1000, which includes the charges £1100 you wish to reclaim. Think now, what would your balance be, had you not been charged. It would be £100 in credit, so all you would be entitled to get in your palm, would be that £100, to make you no better or worse off than you would have been without the charges.

You phrased that so much more diplomatically than I was going to! ;)

Scott, to put it another way, if the bank paid you into another account, you still owe Barclays the money. Even if bank charges are deemed to be unfair under statute the debt would still exist.
