Tesco Bathrooms - opinions?

I have noticed that Tesco now sell everything imaginable, and they have some half price bathroom suites which look good value. However, I am uncomfortable buying things like taps etc. on-line without having felt the quality and seen the workmanship etc.
Does anybody have any experience with purchasing a Tesco bathsuite, and if so would you recommend them? Where do people suggest I look for good value bathrooms with proven quality?

I dont recogise any of the styles that tesco have,so probably arnt branded items

I always recommend PTS(www.ptsplumbing.co.uk), Ask them for discount and make sure you get atleast 30% of list prices

Means you get internet prices but without the mail order and if something goes wrong you have a company that will sort out any issues

  • This is well over a year after your inquiry, but i feel compelled to respond as we bought a tesco bathroom back in the May of this year, only to have several problems which are still occurring.

1st had leak from toilet cistern this was a magor pain because of the enclosed design, flooded the kitchen ceiling,

2nd and maybe because of the sealent, constant leaking down behind the bath at the tap end possibly caused due to the bath felxing with weight of water and person (NO COMMENTS PLEASE),

3rd the sink waste jams in the shut position, and has been replaced once but i'm not happy with it,

4th and to your qustion, the bath taps were removed the other day to reseal them against the bath as were leaking, now these things come in two pieces a flat base section that sits on the bath and the tap that sits in this base, the two are held in place by a brass pin screwed into the tap moulding, lining up with hole in base plate, this brass pin in BOTH the hot & cold taps snapped, YES SNAPPED,
@ a £140.00 for the pair this is not acceptable.

    my advise DO NOT BYE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well surprise surprise. Its cheap Chinese tat probably bought at the lowest possible price to squeeze the biggest possible margin. They probably squeeze the installation teams (who will not be Tesco employees) to the point where they are forced to take short cuts as well.

Would I buy groceries from PTS? Errm, now let me think .....No! So why buy a bathroom from Tesco?

    Cheers

  • I have today had my plumbers try and fit the bath from thr suite and due to a fault with the bath and screws supplied the bath has been damaged. We conatcted tesco bathrooms and the plumber has spoken with them and we have shown all evidence that it is the fault of the materials but surprise surprise we are not getting any help from them and all supervisors and managers are out on lunch or in meetings!!
  • I advise the lady complaining about Tesco Bathrooms, contact trading standards, I am having similiar problems!
  • I have been chasing a brochure and information for a Tesco FINEST Bathroom since I heard about them, this was for my Elderly Parents who are struggling with stepping in and out of their bath.

I have had no response from Tesco and having now read countless bad things about this company I have been put off.

I did some digging and found that the people who are running this company are part of the group that worked for a big name bathroom company who recently went bust due to poor quality bathrooms being installed and customers consently being let down!

Maybe this was also due to money going into a well known designer being used as the face to promote the company !

I ended up finding a family business know as "The Walk In Bathing Company" based in Portsmouth who mainly specialise in producing walk in baths and showers for elderly and disabled people.

After booking an appointment I was wary at first that the products may look very clinical but after seeing what they had to offer and existing installations they have completed, I was given the "Wow factor" at how modern and adaptable they can make your bathroom look for not just eldery and disable but also able body people.

I got a more personal one to one service and when I had some general questions regarding the installation it was a simple pick up the phone and I was straight through to someone no call waiting or being diverted!

They made my parents feel very reassure and comfortable through the whole process, personally I wouldn't go to a big company like Tesco I would go to a smaller company with experience and a good back ground in bathrooms, all I have to finish on is "Tesco's are famous for selling food?????? you wouldn't dream of going to B and Q to get your food for the week !"
  • Oh what a hoorible thing to say Ikon :rotfl: I must buy you a

Tesco installers must be superb they are members of the Kitchens  Bathrooms  and Bedrooms  Installers  Institute

  • We have just had a new bathroom installed by Tesco, the work is not finished but already we can foresee a lot of problems. The toilet is already leaking and completely flooded the bathroom and the water has gone underneath the ceramic floor tiles so the whole lot need ripping up and started again!!! The standard of workmanship is very poor, I could do better gouting myself. I am now making a start on my paperwork for the trading standards as a company as big and influencial as Tesco should not get away with ripping hard working people off.:(

People – stop using Tesco for kitchens and bathrooms. You have been warned.
