cleaning stuff from a mirror?

Options
trying to get an old mirror looking good again, but there are some old bits of self adhesive stickers left on it (foil, and thick paper), that just wont budge..

using a wallpaper scraper may damage the glass, so open to ideas!

Try eucalyptus oil. Put a few drops on a folded up piece of kitchen roll or cloth and rub, rub, rub. It will need a bit of work if there's paper and foil on but keep rubbing, and putting more oil on your cloth.

Peel off the surface from the stickers, if you can, or at least get through them by rubbing away a section, then pour neat washing up liquid or stardrops on it, then apply a damp cloth which has been dunked in warm water - the washing liquid will break the surface tension of the glue, and it should come off easier after that. If you can, leave the washing up liquid to soak through for a while, before rubbing, as it gives it time to work.

Oh, look, just give it to me - I love fiddling about with things like that!

Try using a ceramic hob scraper? If you can use it on the glass of that should be ok on the mirror? (hopefully!!) I would wet it thoroughly first though

surgical spirit will lift it off..i use to use it all the time to get the big price stickers off cd boxes,,,
  • I've heard that a squirt of WD40 can help remove stickers.

for removing the sticky residue left by stickers you can use petrol, thinners, white spirit or wd40.

Any type of oil will do; WD40, olive oil, baby oil. Dab a bit over the sticker and leave it (overnight if you like). It soaks through the paper and makes the glue all slippery and easy to peel off.

a new stanley blade to get most of it off, then baby oil or wd40.
clean with damp newspaper, and then finally a clean newspaper, will leave no smears.
    Get some gorm.
