Warning welcome car finance
Posting this to warn anyone to check the agreements they sign dont have welcome car finance in the small print.
This company have stitched us up,collected a car for service under warranty and are now denying any knowledge of the arrangement.
All calls were made via their head office from a house phone.
now it seems we are stuck with a 4 year hp agreement for a car we dont have.
Any one know the answer to this one?
can post further details....

Yeh seems that way but they are denying any knowledge of the arrangement.
however all calls were made from their offices to our home address.
They phoned us to say it was being collected.
we have made hundreds of calls but they deny it and send us round department to department or just dont pick up the phone.
the law says technically its not theft but has been put down as lost or stolen.
To report to the insurance company we need a crime number which we are waiting for.
but meanwhile what do we do about the hp agreement?
cancel direct debit or what?
all the car had was a bonnet that wouldnt open and they insisted it was taken to a repair agent of their choice.
the whole thing has become a nightmare
and only had the car 2 or 3 weeks

need to add this... the police told me that welcome car finance wont report loss of the car and they cant search for it as its a civil dispute can anyone explain this term please?0

Welcome Car Finance have closed down. I suspect that your car has been inadvertently caught up in this......maybe the person who booked your car in has now lost his job and no-one else knows about it (just a thought).
If they have possession of your car and your HP agreement is with the same group of companies then its fair to say that they have interrupted your right to peaceful enjoyment of the goods.
You need to raise this issue with Welcome Finance directly and give them a clear timeframe (no longer than 7 days) to return your car otherwise. I really cannot see how they can expect to continue to enforce the agreement if this does not happen.0 -
Maybe it was the bloke losing his job who decided to grab a car or two on his way out.0

Yes for car finance so i hear but as for lending money i thought they were still going strong.
They have been told about the situation similar to what you suggested.
But their attitude is cool and offhanded to the point of being plain rude.
All they do is pass you from department to department.
Now i believe my name is flagged as noone i want to speak to is around.0 -

YEAH...the thought had crossed our minds.. after all he would have access to company information.
But...im wondering if maybe the company was so tightfisted that the original repair bill of 88 pounds was too much.
it was supposed to be repaired in illford but the garage wouldnt take payment over the phone according to WCF.
if they contracted the service repair to a cowboy cut price garage maybe they run off with the car and welcome dont want to admit liabilty.
I dunno..but as far as i see the car has been stolen.. someone must have had this vision and just so happened to knock on my door.
Knowing exactly what was wrong with it.. guys looked more like office bods than car repair men and also drove a fiat ..hmmmmm0 -

To describe them as 'going strong' is a bit of an overstatement to say the least - they have significant problems at the moment.
What a ridiculous situation they have put themselves (and you of course) in !!
If your communications with them are not getting you anywhere then you need to put the agreement into dispute (you have the right to do this under the CCA) and advise them that you are witholding payment until they return your vehicle. You probably have a good case to press for the cost of hiring an alternative vehicle also.
Give them the 7 days I suggested earlier and advise them of your intention to complain to the Financial Ombudsman Service if they continue their inaction over this matter. In reality, however, the FOS are likely to be too slow for the purposes of this situation and I would seriously suggest that you see if you can get a free half hour consultation with a local solicitor to see if they can help. It may add some weight to the communications if this was to come from them. They are, after all, retaining unlawful possession of the goods regardless of what the police might think.0 -
thanks brock.. the reason i said this is because when i first purchased the car it was through Auto car finance.
I did not know till later the agreement had been passed to welcome car finance.
When i phoned about the fault and they said WCF has ceased trading.
i thought oh no now what.
however i was assured that wcf would honour the 4 year warranty,
and believed them when they said they were still lending money but not doing car loans anymore.
They had told me that the bonnet catch was not under the warranty and i said well how am i supposed to fill it with oil , water and check the battery,
I had no idea there was a fault as the bonnet was up when i saw the car.
It was supposed to have had a 126 point presale check...however this wasnt the case, as there were no ticks on the paperwork just a signature.0
