Gas/Electric prices

Hi ,
I have dual fuel from Seeboard Energy and have over the past year been paying £17.00 per month for gas and £11.00 per month for electric, which as I live on my own seems a reasonable amount. I keep a close eye on the bills as they come in and can give my meter reading online. I have found that if my bills start going into debit instead of credit then I pay via my switchcard how ever much it is over the phone so I always keep in a little bit of credit with my accounts. I have been quite happy to do this and don't feel that what I pay is too much. I keep getting bothered at the door by sales people telling me I should switch companies.
I don't have to do I. I am a pensioner and live on a fixed income Do you think I have got it right or should I think about moving my Gas/electric companies.

IMHO, you should only consider switching companies if it suits *you.* Your bills seem to be quite low but it may be worthwhile checking other companies to see if you can get a better deal.

As to the people at the door, just don't let them in or even talk to them. Politely state that you are happy with what you've got and gently close the door in their faces. That may not sound very nice, but they are there uninvited.

  • If you are thinking about switching your gas and electricity supplier take a look at the comparison and other sites on the https://www.buy.at/ network. They are a series of web portals to shopping sites linked to charities or fundraising organisations where the commission/cashback goes to that organisation or charity. You can search for a local school or sports club to support. My child's school has https://www.buy.at/bishopbright for instance.

The network has signed up Switch and Give (£7 single fuel £14 dual fuel per switch) and Scottish Power(£17.50 per fuel switched). It isn't cashback to you but if you are feeling generous this is could be your charity donation for the month.

I haven't yet tried them as I am still looking round and will check out the other switching sites as well. However if you do decide to use buy.at as your portal - if you leave halfway through before the transaction is completed and forget and come back to the site without going through the web portal again they won't get the commission.

    Happy switching. :j
